Paulo Sousa - Sitar player

Paulo Sousa, sitar player, was born in Lisbon in May 1964. On his eclectic musical journey he explored the best of different styles. During the 80's he was a guitar player and left recorded works with Essa Entente.

During the beginning of the 90's he continued his development at the Conservatório Regional of Setúbal, where he concluded the course in Classical Guitar and joined the 'Old Blues Band'.

To develop his skills and performance better he enrolled at the Jazz School in Barreiro. It was during this time that he discovered the sitar and started to study this instrument in parallel with everything else he was doing.

His fondness of music with a contemplative nature, and his travels in the north of India during 2000, firmly put him on the road with Ragas and the Sitar. He became immersed in the study of Yoga and Hindustani classical music. With his music he intends to share his experiences, and to give his interpretations of a musical style that necessarily allows the emptying of creative capacity where the different emotions of the human being can gain colour and sound.
