This is the oldest Hiren Roy we have ever had, the beauty of its work can only be compared to the fine carvings of Kanai Lal.
It is a unique instrument from the 40-50’s, which headstock ending swan shaped is the most remarkable feature.
The excellent carvings, unusually deep and accurate leave it with no doubt: it was Hiren Roy himself who fully carved the sitar, taking special care of every detail of the instrument.
Made in the first decade of Hiren Roy’s workshop in Kolkata, this is a master piece worthy to be in a museum, as it is a historical instrument made by India’s most famous sitar maker.
