Deluxe Bridges

Our "Deluxe " bridges are made with non traditional materials. Some of them have already  been used successfully in the past, while some of them are shown for the very first time in this section.  All have been tested by sitar players in order to ensure the compatibility with the instrument!

Whilst hippo ivory is the hardest ivory on the planet, it is not the easiest material to work with.  As it cannot be heated up to high temperatures all the bridges are carefully sawcut by us in order to avoid any cracking. Legs are made with medium density exotic woods.

These bridges have a unique sound which is extremely clean and sweet.  Furthermore they are super-resistant to friction; they will last for months until a new jawary will be needed.

These bridges are made from legal ivory which is expensive.  A copy of its CITES document will be attached with your purchase.  We are doing our utmost to get the documents which will allow us to sell them worldwide, however, unfortunately nowadays, due to international restrictions we can’t send them out of the UE, sorry.

Buloke wood or bull-oak is native to Australia. It is known for being the hardest wood in the world with a hardness in the janka scale of 5060lbf , almost 40% harder than ebony! Several sitar players have tried these bridges and the result is very satisfactory. It gives a good balanced sound , neither too bright nor too dull . A friend tested the first buloke bridge (made by us); after 8 months of sitar practice, it still preserved a pretty closed sound. He practiced daily 4 to 6 hours!

Snakewood wood is one of the most beautiful and expensive hardwoods in the planet; its name comes from snake-pattern shown in its surface. Its hardness and durability are superior to Ebony and hence a highly recommended alternative to it. The first snakewood bridge we made ended up in the hands of sitar player Thomas Jacquot, a devoted student of Ustad Imrat Khan. He defined it as :  "Compared to ebony, the sound is better; very clear and bright " .
