We feel proud to introduce the second sitar of our Deluxe series section.
For this sitar we combined 2 exotic woods; brazilian mahogany for the front part and curly Claro Walnut for the back. We were lucky enough to get the brazilian mahogany from a retired luthier who had stored it in his workshop for more than 40 years!
The main bridge and taraf ones are made ouf of African blackwood while the Meru and Tar Gahan are made out of buffalo horn. The rose shaped main pegs are decorated with some impressive rose carved inlays. This detailed work was inspired from those seen in the old instruments from Kanailal and brothers. The taraf pegs are carved from indian ebony which are laser engraved with the symbol "OM".
Most of the inlays used in this model are made from ebony and black celluloid. The edge of the tabli and the headstock are decorated with Ziplex mother of pearl while the main tumba of the instrument has been decorated with Purflex Dwende-3. The sitar's pickguard, made out of black celluloid, has been decorated with the symbol "OM" using laminated abalone giving an extraordinary look to the instrument.
Lastly, as a final decoration, curly koa wood was added at the top of the headstock.
